Experiences & Events - With sustainability in focus

KOKO Lahti Oy is an event company owned by the city of Lahti, which covers a large part of the city's most important cultural events and venues. More than 400 000 visitors are participated in events every year.

We take account of the principles of sustainable development in our operations. The organisation of services, in particular for transport, produces environmental impacts and requires proper consideration of the safety of visitors and partners at all stages of production.

Our mission is to promote the well-being and equality of our employees, partners and visitors, and the vitality of our region. We aim to minimise the environmental impact of the events and activities we enable.

Our goal is to be the most sustainable and competitive event company in Finland in 2025.

We have identified four aspects of sustainability which guide our actions:

We support the
well-being of our community

We create local vitality

We pay attention to the enviroment

We promote equality

We support the well-being of our community

Well-being employees and event partners produce experiences that also make the event visitors feel good. Our future competitiveness is crucially affected by the availability of skilled labour. We want to create a community in which our employees and partners are well-being. A community that is self-directed and motivated to take responsibility for its development.

We create local vitality

With local cooperation, we promote the vitality of the Lahti region. We bring an economic impact of up to EUR 49 million* annually. We promote tourism in the Lahti region, and by working with educational institutions and other local actors, we create a more comprehensive regional attraction.

We pay attention to the enviroment

It is important for us to promote the vitality of the surrounding nature, and in particular Lake Vesijärvi. When nature is well, so are we. If possible, our event houses will warm up with fossil-free energy, and light technology will favour energy-saving LEDs. Waste from houses and events is carefully minimised and sorted, waste management is carbon neutral, emissions from mobility are minimised, and their environmental impacts are taken into account in procurement. KOKO Lahti collaborates with Vesijärvi Foundation and Sustainable Travel Finland.

We promote equality

KOKO Lahti's event’s and event centre’s key point is producing the best service experience possible. We want to take more account of all user groups in our events and houses. The aim is to make buildings and events more accessible and online services more accessible to special groups. In addition, we are investing in equal treatment and non-discrimination of visitors. We want all our visitors to feel welcome to our events just the way they are.
